There were screams as punters ducked for cover when a swarm of bees invaded Wingatui. The swarm timed their invasion just before the semifinals of Fashions in the Fields, but the interruption was not enough to dampen spirits at what organisers and police said was a well-behaved event. ​Sergeant Kevin Davidson, of Mosgiel, said bee swarms were a common natural occurrence. He said the crowd was both one of the smallest and best-behaved police had seen, he said.
