With one casualty and thousands remaining displaced, the flood situation in Assam continues to be grim. According to the state government, body of one person who had drowned in the Subansiri river has been recovered this week. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ADMA), Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger mark at Jorhat, Dhansiri, Golaghat, Sonitpur and Karimganj districts. The floods have left nearly 8000 hectares of crop area inundated, with Lakhimpur and Karimganj being the worst hit. The other affected districts are Golaghat, Cachar, Dhemaji, Biswanath and Jorhat.
