The highest turnout in 2012's Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections was in S Ward, going as high as 49.5% and the lowest turnout was in A Ward at 34.2%. In a city with a population of over 2.2 crores the voter turnout was as low as 45%. The BMC is in charge of everything from clean water, potholes to getting rid of rats in your vicinity. BMC elections are the ones that affect us the most, but they always see the lowest turnouts, 45% to be precise!
