Wastewater testing shows coronavirus in N.L. neighbourhood, 7 new cases reported

ST. JOHN’S, N.L. - Newfoundland and Labrador is reporting seven new cases of COVID-19 as health officials say the novel coronavirus has been detected near St. John’s through wastewater testing. The provincial Health Department says all but one of the seven cases reported today have been traced to travel or to previously known infections. Public health is also advising residents of the town of Paradise, which is about 25 kilometres from St. John’s, to get a COVID-19 test after wastewater testing revealed the presence of the novel coronavirus in the area. Officials say it’s no reason to panic, but anyone in Paradise experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms should get a test.
