People seeking medical help via the NHS 111 service have been warned of delays due to a “major” computer system outage caused by a cyber attack. The issue is affecting the system used to refer patients for care, including ambulances being dispatched, out-of-hours appointment bookings and emergency prescriptions. Plans are in place due to a system outage impacting 111 and GP out-of-hour services across Wales. The ambulance service said partners across Wales have “developed and deployed plans so services can continue to operate”. An NHS England spokeswoman said NHS 111 services are still available and that there is “currently minimal disruption”.
