People who fell ill after eating raw or partly-cooked Coromandel mussels have prompted a warning about food poisoning. There has been an increase in cases linked to commercially grown mussels from the Coromandel area, a Ministry for Primary Industries statement said. The mussels were bought in the shell and were eaten raw or had not been thoroughly cooked, New Zealand Food Safety director of food regulation Paul Dansted said.
