Warning 20,000 coronavirus survivors 'could get deadly sepsis within a year'

People diagnosed with coronavirus are being encouraged to familiarise themselves with the signs of the life-threatening reaction to an infection after a report released by the UK Sepsis Trust. One in five Covid-19 survivors who required hospital treatment is at risk of sepsis within a year of being discharged. (Image: Facebook)The UK’s longest-suffering coronavirus patient Fatima Bridle spent an incredible 130 days in hospital with the virus, pneumonia and sepsis. The UK Sepsis Trust said that for every patient who is diagnosed early there is a cash saving to the NHS of more than £5,500, meaning 20,000 sepsis patients could cost more than £1 billion in patient care and benefits. Joe Cox underwent sepsis treatment and received antibiotics through an IV, and coronavirus had started to attack the bottom of his lungs.
