Police are looking for the officer-in-charge of a government rice warehouse in Golapbagh in Gaibandha for embezzling 42 tonnes of rice. Gobindaganj Upazila Food Inspector Md Ahad Ali filed the case around 11:30pm Thursday. Upazila nirbahi officer Md Abdul Hannan said that he had discovered the anomalies during a surprise visit to the godown on Thursday afternoon and later sealed it off. He also asked the food inspector to take legal action against the officer on-duty, Abdullah, who is now on the run. Inspector Ahad said that he had informed higher authorities about the matter and recommended departmental action against Abdullah.
