Shelley, ex-serviceman and war veteran, told The Hindu that they were invited to attend the inauguration of the War Memorial and assured that the Chief Minister would hear their grievances. Another ex-serviceman Veerappa M. Gumkar alleged that by not even acknowledging the presence of the war veterans Mr. Siddaramaiah and his retinue of Ministers, MLAs and councillors had insulted them.
