Power-law distribution is an asymmetric pattern in which the majority of adoption takes place in the beginning, followed by a long tail trail. This also explains why phenomena in which interdependence is not a factor—such as a person’s height or body temperature—follow a normal distribution, not a power-law distribution. There are many examples of power-law distribution, including the sales figures of blockbuster CDs or movies, and the salary of popular athletes. The unit doesn’t matter as much because the power-law distribution pattern is scale invariant. Feed the winners that demonstrate the power-law distribution and starve the losers, using learning from fast failures.
