Wan Azizah: Tahfiz fire indicative of a domestic drug crisis - Nation

PETALING JAYA: The deadly Darul Quran Ittifaqiyah tahfiz fire that was a revenge attack by seven teenagers shows that there a growing domestic drug crisis that needs to be addressed immediately, says Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. In a statement Thursday, The PKR president called for the Home Ministry to invite party representatives, non-governmental organisations, and other relevant parties to discuss drug abuse problems in the country that she claimed was the cause of rising crime. "Drug abuse have spread to all corners of villages and cities, almost every family is exposed directly to drugs or through someone they know," Dr Wan Azizah said. "Addicts and drug pushers are being arrested, however, there are rarely news of drug lords charged for their crimes," she said. Investigations have revealed that six of the seven suspects involved in the deadly school fire tested positive for ganja.
