Opening arguments began on Nov. 3 in the murder trial of former North Charleston police officer Michael Slager in the shooting death of Walter Scott. She said that Slager’s malice in shooting Scott became clear when he placed Scott in handcuffs, retrieved his Taser and placed it beside the body. According to Slager, Scott then allegedly took control of Slager’s Taser and pointed it toward the officer. But a witness cellphone video shows Scott turning away from Slager and running as the officer opened fire, shooting Scott five times.
