Patna: The Assembly on Tuesday passed a bill allowing transfer of 10 acres of land to the tourism department for a multipurpose centre in memory of Guru Gobind Singh, amid objections from the opposition. Agriculture minister Prem Kumar tabled the bill that was later passed as the Bihar Agriculture Market Premises Land Transfer Act, 2017 for the centre named Prakash Punj. The Bahu Uddeshiya Prakash Kendra and Udyan, as the centre is called in the Act, specifically mentions that the scope would be limited to the transfer of agriculture marketing board land for only the Prakash Kendra project. The bill was passed by voice vote amid objections from the opposition for use of the land for non-agriculture work. Nitish justified the land transfer for the multipurpose centre, claiming it was located around the other facilities near the Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib gurdwara in Patna City.
