Wales FA condemns online racist abuse of players

(Reuters) - The Football Association of Wales (FAW) said it was "disgusted" by the racial abuse its players received on social media platforms after Saturday's friendly win over Mexico. Welsh winger Rabbi Matondo and defender Ben Cabango were targeted online after Wales' 1-0 win in Cardiff. "The FAW is disgusted by the racial abuse received by players via social media after last night's game," the FAW said in a statement https://www.faw.cymru/en/news/na-i-hiliaeth-no-racism on Sunday. Matondo posted a screenshot of the abusive messages on Twitter https://twitter.com/rabbi_matondo/status/1375961025758048260 and said Instagram was "doing absolutely nothing" to prevent racial abuse. England manager Gareth Southgate said players should consider joining former France international Henry in quitting social media to avoid being affected by negative comments and online abuse.
