Waipa council hammered for rejecting shared waters company plansupplied Cambridge Chamber of Commerce chief executive Tania Witheford said Waipa's decision over the matter did not demonstrate "forward thinking". Criticism is flowing hard and fast for Waipa District Council, after it rejected the proposal to form a shared waters management company with Hamilton City Council. In a meeting on December 19, the Waipa council cast a vote against the cost-saving plan, which effectively threw seven years of discussion and research out the window. SUPPLIED New Zealand Council for Infrastructure Development chief executive Stephen Selwood said experts agreed the shared waters company would be of benefit to Waipa. "Waipa's council could have freed up resources to focus on this core business," Taxpayers' Union chief executive Jordan Williams said.
