Waimate Council unhappy with LGNZ over Three Waters response

Waimate mayor Craig Rowley says his council is not happy about the way LGNZ has responded to the Three Waters Reforms, but it has not discussed cancelling its membership. Waimate mayor Craig Rowley said his council was concerned by what he perceived to be a “lack of pushback” by Local Government New Zealand (LGNZ) around the proposal. “We haven’t been happy with the response in relation to the Three Waters Reform Programme from LGNZ,” Rowley said. “We know it has been extremely challenging for councils as they grapple with the complexity of the Three Waters reform proposal and the implications for their operations,” Crosby said. “There are a range of other benefits and resources that [Waimate] council receives through our membership [with LGNZ], and we duly acknowledge those.”On Thursday, the Waimate council sent its official feedback on the Three Waters proposals to the Government.
