A Waikato pharmacist is appearing before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal on a professional misconduct charge (file)A Waikato pharmacist is facing a professional misconduct charge after allegedly leaving methadone, which was later stolen in a break-in, unlocked and on a counter. The pharmacist, who has interim name suppression, appeared before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal hearing in Hamilton on Monday. The witness said when she told the pharmacist about the theft, his first response was "will I get de-registered?". Counsel for the pharmacist, Harry Waalkens QC, said the pharmacist had lodged his error with Medsafe and the Ministry of Health instead. Later in questioning the witness was asked whether she believed the pharmacist was involved in the break-in.
