Hundreds of geese will be poisoned by a Waikato council as they eat their way through grass at a local sports field. The Waikato District Council will hand-feed bait laced with poison to up to 180 Canadian geese. Shooting the geese would not be effective, the council said, especially at a time of year when the geese are flighty. The Waikato District Council should be doing the same,” Chambers said in a statement. The council will poison the geese on the week of June 14-18.
