Airbus made the most out of WTO ruling, declaring it to be a “knockout blow” to Boeing. Airbus didn’t mention the WTO ruled against it on five of six challenges in the case. One gets the impression in talking with Airbus officials that these other five were merely a “kitchen sink” strategy. It’s this specific quid-pro-quo that violates WTO rules and which is flatly “prohibited.” This means am immediate cure is required. In any event, the US Trade Representative (which really is the party in the case) will appeal on behalf of Boeing.
