Deputy speaker of the Edo Assembly, Mrs Maria Edeko, on Thursday, eulogised teachers on the occasion of World Teachers Day, describing them as “nation builders”. Mrs. Edeko in a goodwill message to the teachers stressed that no nation could develop without teachers, and urged the society to appreciate them. The Edo State deputy speaker said that the world recognised the importance of teachers in shaping the future of the country, hence the need for support from all stakeholders. She noted that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration had prioritised education in the state with the introduction of technology to teach the children. According to her, no amount of commendation appreciation would actually be enough to pay for the immense sacrifice and contribution teachers make to the development of the nation.
