WHO to support Sri Lanka: Booster shot for primary healthcare

WHO Resident Representative to Sri Lanka Dr. Razia Pendse had paid an official visit to State Minister of Primary Healthcare, Epidemics, and Covid-19 Disease Control Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle to congratulate Dr. Fernandopulle on her appointment, and discussed the way forward in improving the country’s healthcare services. “Sri Lanka happens to have very robust immunisation programmes against many diseases. We want to continue this stance, and are looking to improve and strengthen the immunisation programme to match the present requirements, while improving the country’s primary healthcare services as well,” Dr. Fernandopulle explained to Dr. Pendse. “The efforts put forth by the healthcare services in Sri Lanka, including the Ministry of Health, have been commendable. As the WHO Representative, I extend my fullest support to the Government of Sri Lanka in improving the primary healthcare services and its immunity programme,” Dr. Pendse noted.
