The World Health Organisation (WHO) has applauded Tanzania after it moved to embrace measures meant to contain the spread of the dreaded COVID-19. In February, the President John Pombe Magufuli-led administration urged Tanzanians to undertake eight specific measures in a deliberate move to win the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. Indicating that the country will not go on a lockdown, the health ministry said Tanzanians should conduct physical exercises while protecting the elderly; those who are obese, and people with underlying conditions. This week, media reports indicated that President Magufuli had been hospitalised at The Nairobi Hospital for COVID-19 related complications.
