FM Qureshi briefs Mahipala on the steps taken by Islamabad to prevent the outbreakThe World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday appreciated Pakistan’s robust and timely response to tackle coronavirus epidemic which has affected 79 countries and has claimed more than 3,000 lives, said a statement by the Foreign Office. Measures taken by Pakistan include screening facilities at airports as well as establishment of quarantine and isolation centres, which has helped in controlling the epidemic in the country. WHO Country Representative to Pakistan Dr. Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala called on Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. He presented the foreign minister with the daily situation report – that includes analysis of the threat around the world, including Pakistan. Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to improving the healthcare system in Pakistan, the foreign minister further expressed hope that WHO would continue providing its valuable support and cooperation to Pakistan.
