WB approves add’l P21-billion funds for DAWorld Bank (WB) has agreed to inject additional funds of as much as P21 billion to the Department of Agriculture’s (DA) Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), a national project designed to establish a platform for a modern, climate-smart, and market-oriented agri-fishery sector. WB Country Director Mara Warwick said the multilateral bank will continue to support the country’s projects on agriculture development. It was former Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala who initiated the efforts to seek for additional funds for PRDP earlier this year. Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the WB and DA already forged the agreement for the additional funding. “What we heard gives us great hope that the kind of projects PRDP is doing and the aspirations of the farmers will be supported,” she added.
