MANILA, Philippines — Janine Berdin, a 16-year-old singer and actress from Lapu-Lapu, Cebu, was hailed as the champion of hit “It’s Showtime” singing contest “Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 2” on June 2 at the Aliw Theater. In a series of interviews with the press following her win, Janine revealed that she joined the contest to help her grandmother, a cancer survivor who suffered from stroke. She auditioned at “The Voice Kids Philippines” and “Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 1” but was not accepted. On January 24, 2018, Janine entered “Tawag ng Tanghalan Season 2” as a Season 2, Quarter 4 contender, where she was introduced as a young military trainee.
