The outrage over the lockdown breach by this couple, who used “essential worker” exemptions to travel to Wānaka for a holiday, is spreading like wildfire on social media. I am not going to repeat some of the things said on social media because they don’t need more airing: The hatred is palpable. But what I have seen on social media is nothing short of a public lynching, which is punishment without trial. This is my plea to everyone to show some humanity and care on social media.
