The polls opened at 8am on Thursday and will close at 4pm, said Election Commission Deputy Secretary Md Nuruzzaman Talukder. Of the 56 Unions, 22 will be holding standard elections, 34 will hold by-elections and two will hold re-votes, said the deputy secretary. Two polls halted by court order, Pabna’s Sujanagar Municipal Ward – 6 and Satkhira District Administration, will also hold re-votes, he said.
