Olalekan Adetayo, AbujaThe Vanguard for Transparent Leadership and Democracy on Thursday said vote-buying that allegedly characterised the Tuesday election of presiding officers of the two chambers of the National Assembly had placed a moral burden on the federal lawmakers. It said it was left to be seen how the lawmakers would carry out their constitutional role of making laws that would ensure credible elections in the country. The group’s National President, Igbini Emmanuel, made its position known in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja. He, however, commended the Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Mohammed Sani-Omolori, who he said resisted some lawmakers’ earlier moves to undermine the process. This is clear vote selling and buying.
