LONDON—Britain’s election was good news for Boris Johnson, but it was bad news for supporters of the union among England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The strong showing for parties eager to refashion or even dismember the U.K. means that questions over the future of Europe’s second-largest economy, and closest U.S. ally, are getting louder. Containing the secessionist genie will present Mr. Johnson an acute political challenge.
