This Government, despite the Windrush scandal, denies creating a hostile environment for immigrants. Why would we get rid of a man who has made his home and career here? But this week we learned about a Nepalese doctor who faces deportation despite living in the UK for 16 years. Home Office rules have rightly been branded inflexible. So why, when the NHS is so desperately short of people, are the same powers not exercised.
