The increase in infections has left some hospitals struggling to cope and is putting further strain on our tireless NHS staff. The situation certainly makes a mockery of Boris Johnson’s idle claim earlier this year that the worst would be over by Christmas. At this dark moment, we need to remember there is hope on the horizon thanks to the vaccine roll-out. But this has to be balanced against the need to contain the virus and protect others. And if you don’t stick to your pledge, remember it’s only 12 months until you get to make a new one.
