The journey of Vodacom Tanzania dates way back to 1999 when Vodacom Group Limited won a bid to operate a GSM cellular network and provide Public Land Mobile Network Services (PLMN) in the United Republic of Tanzania. Vodacom Group formed the subsidiary company, Vodacom Tanzania. In 2006, Vodacom Tanzania was granted the Network Facilities License, Network Services License and Application Services License. In 2008, we launched Vodacom M-Pesa, which has transformed the lives of Vodacom Tanzania’s customers and significantly enhanced financial inclusion. The formation of Vodacom Tanzania Foundation, the CSR arm, is a key milestone.
