KUALA LUMPUR: National womens’ doubles player, Vivian Hoo is not one to take unnecessary risks, especially with a Super Series tournament like the China Open looming, which is why she has opted to pull out of the Macau Open which begins tomorrow. “It’s not injury, but we just need to recover our fitness to enable us to be sharper and stronger for not one, but two Super Series tournaments coming up (China and Hong Kong Open’s),” she said when contacted today. “The decision to withdraw from the Macau Open will allow us to make the necessary preparations needed for the two Super Series tournaments which are the China and Hong Kong Open’s,” said the Kuala Lumpur born player. The pair, who are currently ranked World No 14, lost to China’s Huang Dongping-Li Yinhui 17-21, 14-21, in the first round of the Denmark Open, and they also went down to Japanese pair Shiho Tanaka-Koharu Yonemoto, 22-24, 19-21, at the French Open. Their absence at the Macau Open leaves the other national pairs of Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean and Lim Yin Loo-Yap Cheng Wen to keep the Malaysian flag flying at the tournament.
