Visit Golden Temple, India extends invitation to heads of foreign missions

New Delhi: India has extended an invitation to the heads of foreign missions based in New Delhi to visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar as the government prepares to celebrate the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak. “Over 90 Resident Heads of Missions in New Delhi are expected to travel to Amritsar on 22 October," the foreign ministry said in a statement. The committee is responsible for the management of Gurudwaras in the states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, besides the Golden temple in Amritsar. The Kartarpur Sahib gurudwara is located 4.5 km from the Indian border near Dera Baba Nanak and is highly revered among Sikhs. It is the place where Guru Nanak spent 18 years of his life and was put to rest.
