The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) is taking steps to prevent any shortage of electricity in the Visayas grid after a landslide in Cebu downed three transmission towers. “Contingency mechanisms are in place to ensure the Visayas grid remains stable,” the grid operator said. As of Thursday, three transmission lines were still unavailable. Also, power services in 92 communities have been partially restored. In areas served by the National Power Corp.’s (Napocor) Small Power Utilities Group—covering small islands and off-grid areas, Napocor said all power plants were back to normal operations.
