Virginia and New Jersey have each reported their first deaths related to vaping, bringing the US total count up to 17. The death in Virginia, an adult who lived in the southwest region, occurred on September 26 at a hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. The New Jersey death, an adult female who lived in the northern part of the state, occurred in August. As of Tuesday, 31 lung injury cases, including the death, have been reported in Virginia. Massachusetts has gone the farthest, issuing a four-month ban on all vaping products - flavored or not.
