A photograph from what appears to be the 1984 medical school yearbook page of Ralph Northam, now the Democratic governor of Virginia, shows a person dressed as a member of the Ku Klux Klan and another wearing blackface. Neither person is identified in the black-and-white photograph. But the image appears alongside other photos of Dr. Northam, a future pediatric neurologist who was elected Virginia’s governor in 2017. A spokeswoman for the governor did not respond to a message on Friday. The existence of the photograph was first reported by the website Big League Politics, and Eastern Virginia Medical School provided a copy of the yearbook page on Friday afternoon.
