7-ranked Virginia Cavaliers have lost senior guard Braxton Key, their second-leading scorer, for an indefinite period after he underwent surgery for a wrist injury, the team announced Wednesday. Key, who was the team leader in rebounds (8.3 per game) and steals (1.3) heading into Wednesday’s game, has a 10.3-point scoring average after six games. In his fourth season, he has averaged 8.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in 104 career games (59 starts, including 30 as a freshman). The Cavaliers, who started forward Jay Huff in Key’s place against Maine on Wednesday, don’t have a timetable for Key’s return. –Field Level Media
