Former India batsman Virender Sehwag has said he has not been approached by any BCCI official to apply for national team coach’s post, currently occupied by his former teammate Anil Kumble. When Hindustan Times contacted Virender Sehwag on Sunday, the opener clarified he has not been contacted by anyone. The BCCI had invited applications for the post of the national team coach earlier this month as current head Anil Kumble’s tenure runs only till the end of the Champions Trophy. On the other hand, Virender Sehwag has never coached a side apart from being a mentor with Kings XI Punjab who finished fifth in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League.
