When the great robot uprising starts, we will remember CUE. I can only assume the engineering nerds at Toyota, who moonlight for kicks in the company’s robotics lab, are over the moon at the Tokyo Olympics. There’s been a long-standing quest to create a robot soccer team that can one day win the World Cup. At the Olympics, there is another robot, the FSR, that can autonomously deliver a ball or plot an optimal path to an errant javelin or hammer. And to watch CUE at the Olympics is to realize this can still go either way.
