Phulbani, Aug 6: The Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Phiringia police station Tapan Kumar Nahak has been transferred to the headquarters. The action followed after a mob on Saturday set the Phiringia police station on fire alleging its IIC and two home guards’ involvement in ganja smuggling. The protestors have blazed furniture, vehicles, and important records of police barging into the police station, aggrieved over the inaction of authorities against the alleged cops. Police have also arrested at least 15 persons in connection with the triggering violence inside the police station. Further investigation led by Bhoi is underway to probe the reason behind the violence and the alleged involvement of cops in cannabis smuggling.
