Government and private properties were vandalised by the rampaging students who were protesting what some term authorities high-handedness. The university has since been closed down indefinitely by the school’s administration under the instruction of the Ashanti Regional Security Council. The old students union of the KNUST issued a statement Monday evening to condemn the “wanton destruction of property”. While acknowledging that disputes between University Authorities and the student body may occur from time to time, the use of violence and destruction to resolve such disputes are totally unacceptable.
