MANILA, Philippines — A village councilor in Tondo, Manila was killed in an ambush Wednesday morning. A report from the Manila Police District’s Raxabago Police Station identified the victim as Ernesto Sibug, 63, village councilor at Barangay 131, Zone 1 in Balut, Tondo. ADVERTISEMENTAccording to police, Sibug was about to board his Mitsubishi Adventure along Beltran St. corner Pinoy St. when the gunman, on board a black Toyota Fortuner, drove near him and shot him repeatedly. Sibug was brought to Tondo Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival. Investigators are also still trying to identify the gunman as well as establish the motive behind Sibug’s death.
