This was to be followed by the filing of nomination papers by Mr. Vijayendra, who was tipped to take on Yathindra, son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. The enraged workers tried to stop the vehicle of Mr. Vijayendra, who was whisked away by the police. Mr. Yeddyurappa came out of his room and appealed to the party workers with folded hands to remain calm. He said as disciplined party workers, they should remain calm and work hard to keep the unity intact and appealed to them to disperse. An emotional Mr. Ramdas announced that he would refuse to contest in case Mr. Vijayendra was not fielded from Varuna.
