The Haryana urban local bodies department has decided to set up a vigilance team to monitor the quality of development works being carried out by the municipalities of the state. Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain said here today that officers posted in a municipality would not be able to monitor the development works being carried out by their own civic body. They committee would monitor the quality of development works done by the corporations, municipal councils and municipalities of districts, except their own, the minister said. Besides, a vigilance team would inspect the ongoing development works in the municipalities and, according to the code of the Public Works Department (PWD), samples would be taken and investigated in the laboratory, Jain said. She said that the team would redress on the spot any complaint related to development work and would submit its report direct to the department.
