It was a slapstick comedy about an Indian by the name of Hrundi V Bakshi , trying to break into Hollywood.In the opening scene, Hrundi – played by Sellers, notoriously ‘brownfaced’ – is an extra, playng out a death scene in what appears to be one of the Anglo-Afghan Wars. To be fair to Gandhi, unlike Bakshi, he seemed always less determined to lead the holding company that had become over decades with his mother, father, grandmother and great-grandfather. It would have perhaps served better for the brand equity of the Congress if such a gesture was made despite no crisis, rather than because of a crisis. But, perhaps, Gandhi will now be able to pursue his political pursuits better as a member of Congress and member of Parliament. One wishes the Congress member and MP all the best.
