The BJP did lose seats in Gujarat and failed to convert its overwhelming vote share advantage into higher seats. If the BJP wins, PM Modi is a shoo-in for 2019 and the party is unstoppable. So much for Dalit anger hurting the BJP.This leaves the economy as a big issue for the party and Mr Modi in 2019. For electoral purposes this should be enough.What many people are missing out is that PM Modi will be on the ballot in 2019. Unless the Congress or opposition cobbles together a grandmother of Mahaghatbandhans or the economy tanks in a big way, PM Modi will start 2019 with a big advantage.
