The 18-year-old player, who is seen as a child prodigy of Russian chess, won the world youth crown twice in 2013 and 2014. However, the Elo gap did not matter for the Russian competitor as she failed to make a better fist against an exceptional Thao Nguyen in the second round. A total of US$450,000 is up for grabs, with each receiving US$3,750 for the first round, US$5,500 for the second round and US$8,000 for the third round.
