Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) grew 6.42 percent in the first half of 2024, a significant increase from the 3.72-percent growth observed in the same period of 2023, as announced by the General Statistics Office on Saturday. The country’s GDP grew by 6.93 percent in the second quarter compared to the same period last year, second only to the 7.99-percent growth recorded in 2022 over the past decade. The 6.42-percent GDP growth in the first half of 2024 is slightly below the 6.58 percent rise observed in the same period in 2022. The consumer price index (CPI) rose by 4.39 percent in the second quarter of 2024 and increased by 4.08 percent for the first half compared to the same period in 2023.
