Vietnam premier raises 3 proposals for SDGs implementation at G20 Summit

Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented three proposals to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) during a discussion on sustainable development and energy transition at the 2024 G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Tuesday. At the event, chaired by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, many leaders agreed that the implementation of the SDGs is slowing down, pointing out the difficulties developing countries face in ensuring a fair energy transition. They expressed unified support for policies promoting green finance and the mobilization of international resources to assist developing countries. The PM brought forward three proposals, each helping accelerate the SDGs implementation, ensuring they will be fulfilled on schedule. PM Chinh also announced that Vietnam will host the Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit in April 2025, demonstrating the country’s commitment to furthering the implementation of the SDGs and accelerating the energy transition.
